Nottingham’s Top 3 Hotels…

Whether you are in town for a mini-break or visiting for a music concert or live event there are plenty of Nottingham city hotels to choose from. It’s a fairly compact city centre with several of your usual chain hotels but for similar prices there are 3 particularly lovely establishments with that extra something special and we would like to share them with you. No need to put in the leg work – we have sourced the 3 best hotels in Nottingham!

Best Hotel Near Motorpoint Arena

The Lace Market is one of Nottingham’s trendiest area’s and a stone’s throw from the Motorpoint Arena for anyone with concert tickets. Trust me, when the lights have come up and you have to spend the next 20 minutes navigating the bowels of the Arena, the last thing you want to do it traipse across town to your bed.  So, the great thing about the Lace Market Hotel is that it is a 2 minute walk from your gig. And, even better; it has its very own pub (next door) the Cock & Hoop for a cosy little nightcap in a big enveloping armchair.

Nottingham was done-over in the 70’s and lost a lot of its great buildings but thankfully the Lace Market wasn’t affected by the concrete craze and still remains one of the prettiest areas of the city in terms of architecture. The Lace Market Hotel is no exception and really makes the most of its Georgian features. Most rooms have large sash windows with cool views of the area plus a spacious feel due to the old town-house’s high ceilings. The furnishings have a subtle art deco design to them and the use of luxurious fabrics (different in every room) presents a deluxe style. And before I forget – free Orla Keily toiletries! It’s swanky but not expensive and occasionally the hotel has an offer on certain rooms.

Best Boutique Hotel For A Romantic Break

Nottingham should definitely be considered for a romantic UK break with your beloved, it’s a pretty city with plenty of lovely places to eat and drink. But when you’re cocktailed-out, it’d be the cherry on the top to retire to a nice boutique hotel, right? Well, sitting on the old ramparts of Nottingham Castle overlooking the exclusive Park Estate is Harts Hotel. With the emphasis being on quality, this luxury hotel is a pamper session waiting to happen. The Hart family own a number of high-end establishments in the area and have been providing a quality service for years and years. Imagine the finest bed linen, staff who remember your name, a high-quality Bose sound system in your room and any requirements catered for with a smile – if Hart’s could give you your own private butler they would!

The layout of Hart’s Hotel means that each room has some sort of worthwhile view, plus several of the accommodations have their own piece of garden to enjoy, complete with table and chairs on your own terrace. It’s a hotel with parking and rooms with adjoining doors for guests with children – features hard to come by in Nottingham city centre hotels. But ultimately the attention to detail at Hart’s is what will make your stay a luxury one and probably have you rebooking a future date for another 5-star romantic break!

Hart’s also has an award-winning restaurant known to locals as one of the best places for posh nosh in Nottingham. They do a theatre package deal too and the occasional offers throughout the year.

Best Family Hotel In Nottingham

Family rooms in Nottingham hotels are a little bit hard to come by which is a shame because the city is a great place for kids and there is always plenty going on. The Hilton Hotel and the Mercure Hotel both have rooms with sofa beds and are very accommodating towards children, however, such tight-spaced living isn’t always ideal and especially if you have teenagers. Fear not though, we have discovered a very good alternative; The Contemporary Lace Market Apartments.

This apartment accommodation in the city centre gets 10 out of 10 for location, is decorated beautifully and really cosy. It’s a two bed-roomed set-up and has a fully functional kitchen which makes it perfect for families. If you’re after a few idea’s for things to do with kids in Nottingham check out our blog post.

  1. I can certainly vouch for the Lace Market Hotel. I stayed there when I got married and it was gorgeous. It’s a bit of a favourite with celebrities or people playing at the arena. When I stayed there Andy Bell from Erasure was at breakfast. As an eighties kid this made my day :- )
